Call forwarding lets Clara answer calls to your existing number. Switch it on once and every call goes through Clara, unless you choose otherwise.
There are three ways to switch it on: Quick setup in the Clara app (recommended), your phone’s settings, or your network’s dial code.
1Quick setup
The recommended way. The app does it all, no codes or numbers needed.
- Open Clara and go to Settings → Call Handling → Call Forwarding
- Choose My current number, so your customers keep calling the number they already know
- Pick how many rings before Clara answers
- Choose your network
- Tap Call to Activate. Your phone dials the right code for you
- Run the quick test, and you’re done
2Set it up in your phone’s settings
You'll need your Clara Number
Open Clara and go to Settings → Call Handling, then tap your Clara Number to copy it.
- Open Settings → Apps → Phone → Call Forwarding
- Turn Call Forwarding on
- Tap Forward To and paste your Clara NumberIn the Clara app, go to Settings → Call Handling and tap your number to copy it
On iOS 17 or earlier, it’s in Settings → Phone → Call Forwarding.
Samsung Galaxy
- Open the Phone app, tap the menu (top right), then Settings
- Tap Supplementary services (newer models: Call settings)
- Tap Call forwarding, then Voice calls
- Choose Always forward, paste your Clara NumberIn the Clara app, go to Settings → Call Handling and tap your number to copy it , and tap Enable
Google Pixel and Motorola
- Open the Phone app, tap the menu, then Settings
- Tap Calling accounts and pick your SIM, or tap Calls
- Tap Call forwarding, then Always forward
- Paste your Clara NumberIn the Clara app, go to Settings → Call Handling and tap your number to copy it and tap Turn on
On other Android phones: open the Phone app, find Settings, and look for Call forwarding or Supplementary services.
3Dial your network’s code
Pick your network and copy the code. Dial it from your phone’s keypad (not the Clara app) and press call. Your network shows a short confirmation message.

Use the phone-settings steps above instead, they work on every network. Or message us from the Clara app (Settings → Contact us) and we'll find your network's code.
T-Mobile, Metro and Mint
Enter your Clara Number in full international format, starting with +1 (for example **21*+15551234567#).
Vodafone UK
Vodafone uses a different setup. Open the Clara app and go to Settings → Call Handling → Call Forwarding to get the exact code for your network.
The dial codes above forward every call. To forward only when you’re busy or don’t pick up, use Quick setup in the app or your phone’s settings instead.
Confirm it’s working
- From another phone, call your own number
- If Clara answers, you’re all set
Nothing yet? Give it a few minutes. Forwarding activates on your network’s side, so it isn’t always instant.
If calls aren’t reaching Clara
The test didn’t confirm it
A failed test doesn’t mean setup failed. Forwarding goes live the moment you switch it on, and the test can take a few tries to catch up. Give it a few minutes, then call your own number from another phone. Your next real call will confirm it’s working.
Calls still ring my phone or go to voicemail
Forwarding isn’t on yet. With forwarding active, calls go straight to Clara without ringing your phone or reaching your voicemail. Re-dial your network’s code and check your Clara NumberIn the Clara app, go to Settings → Call Handling and tap your number to copy it is exact, with no spaces. A new setup can also take a few minutes to update across the network.
Nothing happens when I dial the code
Calls can’t forward without signal. Check you’re not in Airplane Mode or Do Not Disturb, and that you have cellular service when you dial the code.
Calls go to my carrier’s voicemail instead of Clara
Some networks send unanswered calls to their own voicemail before Clara can pick up. Ask your carrier to switch off network (visual) voicemail on your line so calls reach Clara.
